Our Teachers

Roz Sluman

Roz is a working saxophonist based in Cumbria who plays and teaches classical, jazz and popular music. Lessons are either one hour or 30 minutes at a frequency to suit the pupil. Roz has been playing in working bands for over 30 years and believes that learning a musical instrument should be fun and inspiring. Exam entry is an option, as are ensemble sessions on a Thursday evening. Roz has a first class BA Honours degree in music and teaches from the age of 9 years upward and her lessons are tailored to the pupil’s interests. She teaches alto, tenor and soprano saxophone.

Becky Rudd

Becky is another very popular piano teacher, who has played for nearly 30 years. Becky joined Lakeland Music over a year ago and teaches all age groups for both pleasure or towards examination. She is available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the day and early evening.

Jordie Cooke

Jordie has recently joined Lakeland Music and teaches acoustic and electric guitar. He is a popular teacher whose lessons are planned to meet people's ambitions. Jordie is available throughout select days as well as after school.  He has a BA Honours degree in Jazz and Popular Music.

Mark Horseman

Mark is a talented music teacher that teaches piano, clarinet and singing. He is available at Lakeland Music for lessons on most days. They can be booked for either ½ hour or one hour spaces, often available after school hours. Marks teaching can be purely for pleasure or lead to the appropriate examination board.  Mark is also involved with 4 local choirs and has sung professionally.

Edwin Schreiber

Edwin Schreiber, Lakeland Music’s violin teacher was born in Vienna, where he studied at the Vienna Music Academy and is available for violin lessons on Friday afternoons and teaches all age groups. He is qualified to teach students up to Grade 8. Edwin is now a member of the Lakeland Sinfonia and the Westmorland Orchestra.
